More fun with Zooomr portals – tour of SF

August 25th, 2006 · No Comments

First, click here or click on the photo shown below. This will take you to Zooomr. Then place your mouse over the photo to find the portals. They appear as rectangular outlines overlaid on the photo. It will take a few seconds for the portal to appear as an image within an image. Clicking on the portal will give you a more detailed view. Do this again on the next photo. Eventually you will get to close-up detail on several San Francisco landmarks such as Coit Tower, Palace of Fine Arts, and Alcatraz.

It appears that Zooomr portals does not work with Internet Explorer. It works best with Firefox.

Zooomr 2.0 has launched

July 18th, 2006 · No Comments

After a rough week for the upstart photo sharing site (they cancelled their re-launch last Friday due to a denial-of-service attack), Zooomr 2.0 is now available. I haven’t spent a lot of time on their yet but so far I’m impressed. The geotagging function is great. On the photo shown below you can see a map on the right that shows the location of the photo. Just below that you can see other photos that were taken in the same geographical area.

I’m trying out Zooomr. They are offering free pro accounts to bloggers. This shot is from last Sunday at the Fillmore Jazz Festival.
